Favorite Nature Parks in Pinellas County
These are a few places that have inspired my walks and photography. If you’d like to visit them too, I’ve included links to their official websites for maps, hours, and park information.
Places Along the Way
Some of my favorite places to explore in Pinellas County are the quiet parks, preserves, boardwalks, wetlands, and waterfront trails tucked around Clearwater, Largo, and Safety Harbor. I return to these places for peaceful walks, Florida wildlife, birdwatching, and nature photography — the kind of places that make it easy to slow down and stay awhile.
Kapok Park
Kapok Park is a quiet natural area with shaded trails, wetlands, boardwalks, and lots of wildlife tucked into a surprisingly peaceful setting. It’s especially good for slow walks, birdwatching, and those little creekside moments that are easy to miss.
Eagle Lake Park
Eagle Lake Park is a spacious, peaceful park with paved trails, ponds, boardwalks, and plenty of open views. It’s an easy place to walk, watch birds, photograph wildlife, and enjoy a little breathing room without leaving the city.
Largo Central Park Nature Preserve is a peaceful 31-acre nature preserve with shaded boardwalks, wetlands, ponds, and plenty of opportunities to spot Florida wildlife. It’s a quiet little escape in the middle of Largo and an easy place for a relaxing walk, birdwatching, or photography.

Moccasin Lake Nature Park feels tucked away from the city, with wooded trails, boardwalks, wetlands, and native wildlife throughout the preserve. It’s a peaceful place for birdwatching, photography, and an easy walk through a more natural side of Clearwater.

Philippe Park
Philippe Park blends beautiful waterfront views with huge oak trees, winding roads, picnic areas, and a strong sense of Old Florida. It’s also home to the historic Safety Harbor Temple Mound, built by the Tocobaga people centuries ago. It’s a lovely place to wander, watch the water, photograph wildlife, or simply sit beneath the trees for a while.
There are still places I haven’t walked. Sunrises I haven’t seen, and moments I haven’t photographed. That’s one of the things I love most about Florida - there’s always another quiet place waiting around the next bend.
